The battle for the top spot has finally been settled as LSU picked up a huge road victory over Alabama. Obviously, the Tigers are now the # 1 ranked team in the CFRA poll, but the Tide’s new ranking is subject to some controversy. Bama only dropped to # 3 in the BCS and # 4 in the major human polls, but the College Football Researchers Association has ranked Alabama behind Boise at # 5. This could become very significant if Stanford and Oklahoma State were both to lose. Furthermore, there was one tie in this week’s poll and two breaks of at least 40 points. The tie occurred at the # 10 spot between Clemson and Houston. This is the second straight week the Tigers of Clemson have been involved in a CFRA tie. The major breaks in this week’s poll can be found between # 8 Arkansas and # 9 Virginia Tech and then between # 10 Houston/Clemson and # 12 Penn State .
